A Clinical Analysis of Depressed Skull Fractures Involving The Venous Sinuses

Abstract

|
The medical records from 11 patients with depressed skull fracture involving the venous sinuses were reviewed retrospectively. In the head injury, depressed skull fracture involving the venous sinuses was very rare but showed high mortality rate.
In all
cases, involved venous sinuses were the superior sagittal sinus. Posterior involvement and disturbed consciousness at admission associated with poor out come. Prognosis was correlated with involved location and level of consciousness at
admission.
This
results emphasized that it is important to evaluate involved location accurately and to treat rapidly and intensively.
